Hi, my Name is Andrew Vinson. I am currently a GIS professional in the Hampton Roads Metro Area in Southeastern Virginia. I use my knowledge of geography, cartography, and GIS to improve spatial decision making in the public sector. Thanks for checking out my website.
I am both an Army brat and a first generation American. Learning the geography of the various places that I have lived and visited throughout my life has helped me to understand the world and the people that I have encountered.
I graduated from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville with a Bachelor's in Geography with a concentration in Urban Geography. During my undergraduate studies, I learned extensively about demography, GIS, and urban systems. Afterwards, I completed a Master's in Science in Geography from the University of Alabama. During graduate school, I refined my statistical, cartographic, and GIS skills while gained knowledge in urban, regional, & environmental planning.

At the University of Alabama, I worked as a Graduate Research Assistant in UA's Cartographic Research Laboratory. Here, I engaged in applying GIS to solve social & planning issues, researching spatial phenomena, and analyzing data for multiple state, regional, & local government agencies. Additionally, I have work for the City of Norfolk's Real Estate Assessor's Office as a GIS technician. Currently, I am a Senior Data Analyst at the NYU School Medicine where I conduct research on the spatial distribution of chronic diseases, disaster medicine, rural/urban health, and spatial epidemiology.
This website serves primarily as way for me to improve my coding skills i.e. Javascript, Html, & CSS. Most of the this website is being coded from scratch or by modifying HTML templates to meet my needs. No Wordpress or drag and drop website creators have been used at all. However, I am using Adobe Dreamweaver to edit this site.
